New artwork–The Carney

New for 2013 is The Carney by Ara Hagopian, his first artwork in over two years.

The picture started as a pen-and-ink on board drawing, which was finished in Microsoft Paint.

The Carney is Ara’s 98th artwork going back to 1979, when he studied art with the late wildlife artist Bill Velmure of Wakefield, MA.

ABOUT: Ara Hagopian is a Massachusetts-based artist, writer, and photographer. His book, WHAT HAPPENED TO VICKY LEE? A COLLECTION OF STORIES is being published in July 2013.

The Carney tackles the question: “Who carries the show?” Its story will appear in a future publication.

About Ara Hagopian's The LITERATE Show

For over thirty years, I have enjoyed drawing beautiful shapes and writing complementary stories. The imagery tends to focus on our place in the world—whomever or whatever we may be. I am influenced by Twentieth Century history—I read vintage magazines, books and letters. Inspiration comes from visualizing human achievement and personal interaction—derived from people, places and things which may be obscure, but never insignificant. My pen-and-ink THE MAGNIFICENT RECOVERY was selected by the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston for their 2008 summer art auction.
