About Ara Hagopian's The LITERATE Show

For over thirty years, I have enjoyed drawing beautiful shapes and writing complementary stories. The imagery tends to focus on our place in the world—whomever or whatever we may be. I am influenced by Twentieth Century history—I read vintage magazines, books and letters. Inspiration comes from visualizing human achievement and personal interaction—derived from people, places and things which may be obscure, but never insignificant. My pen-and-ink THE MAGNIFICENT RECOVERY was selected by the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston for their 2008 summer art auction.

    Great ! Thank you Ara.
In France we say : “you can choose your friends but not your family”…Nevertheless, family stays besides you all during your life but friends, even if you trust them, can leave, come back or not. Friendship seems like love but it’s not love, sometimes it’s more. Friendships flourish life !

    • I am so glad you commented Bernard. Thank you. Everything you wrote is true. I was thinking about a core group of five friends, all of them gathered in this century, and I was wondering if there was something universal about them. Is there something about them that is timeless and which applies to all the great friendships throughout the ages. Maybe, as with anything, I can only imagine it to be so.

Ara when you talk about a core group of friends and friendships through the ages I think of them as fireflies, they burn bright and are then lost to history as is everything on this earth.

Tell Ara what you think!
